A single tier veil is the most popular choice of wedding veil, made from one layer of tulle. It is a perfect choice if you want a veil with a lighter look or if you're not planning to wear a blusher veil over your face for the ceremony. This veil comes in different lengths and edging (raw/cut edge, lace, satin, cording, etc) and embellishment.

Our 1 tier veils are oval cut; the sides are straight and the corners are curved (except for SKYLAR square cut veil).

Two tier veils (double tiered veils) have two layers, a back tier and a top tier, known as the blusher. A blusher is the top layer worn over the face during the wedding ceremony. It is usually 78cm (31") long but we can custom length the blusher upon request i.e. for brides who'd like extra long blusher that will also cover the hand bouquet.

Blushers can be worn over the face, as is tradition but they can also be worn pulled back on the back of the head as you walk down the aisle. This veil comes in different lengths and edging (raw/cut edge, lace, satin, cording, etc) and embellishment.

Our 2 tier veils are oval cut; the sides are straight and the corners are curved (except for SKYLAR square cut veil).

Three tier veils (extra fullness/puffy veils) have three layers, the shortest layer is a top tier, known as the blusher.

A blusher veil can be worn over the face, as is tradition but they can also be worn pulled back on the back of the head as you walk down the aisle.

The layers are oval cut; the sides are straight and the corners are curved.

A blusher is a short veil or the top tier of a multi layered veil that covers just the bride's face as she walks down the aisle. A blusher can be a separate piece that can be removed after the ceremony.

Our standard blusher length is 78cm (31") but we can custom made the length upon request i.e. extra long blusher (1m long) that will also cover the hand bouquet.

Blushers can be worn over the face, as is tradition but they can also be worn pulled back on the back of the head as you walk down the aisle.

All of our veils that include blushers are one-piece veils. We don't offer our veils with detachable blusher. You can simply pull the blusher to the back of your hair and the veil will look like a beautiful two-tier veil.

A drop veil is a piece of shaped tulle, traditionally worn draped gracefully over your head, attached flat to a comb (no gathers). When the front section (blusher) is pulled over/placed on the back of the head, a drop veil becomes a two tier veil. It is similar to a standard two tier veil but without the gathers or puffiness on the comb. A drop veil can be secured with no comb at all by using hair pins.

A cut/raw edge veil is simply a veil with no edging at all, the edge is left alone once the veil is cut. This veil is best worn with a wedding gown that has intricate details. Wearing a cut/raw edge veil is perfect for a bride who wants a classic and simple finishing touch without competing with the elaborate design of her wedding dress.

Mantilla veil is a one piece, lace edged tulle that is not gathered at the top on a comb.  It's classic, feminine and elegant. Two small combs are attached to the veil so it can sit securely
without having to use hair pins. It is also known as Spanish veil or church veil.

Mantilla veil in our store comes in a variety of lengths, from fingertip to cathedral length. It can also be made as a drop veil if the bride wants to wear it as a blusher.  Even though it's sometimes called a church veil, don't limit your options; you can wear a Mantilla veil at your garden wedding or any other ceremony location.

Pencil / corded edge veil means that the veil has a thin-finishing edge, either a thin beading edge or corded edge. This finishing gives a slight definition and outline to the edge of the bridal veil.

Our shop offers soutache edging (Russia braid) wedding veil as our pencil edge style. It is available in different lengths, from elbow to cathedral length.

Veil material

Our veils are made with good quality nylon tulle and polyester tulle which are delicate and lightweight net fabric. We use different types of tulle (different softness, shapes and weight) for different styles of veils in order to create the shape that we want.
For example, we don't use soft tulle for lace edged veils as the weight and thickness of the lace trim would stretch the soft tulle to appear taut and flat.

Bridal illusion tulle is a lightweight tulle or netting with extremely fine, diamond-shaped holes (the sheerest). It is a light material that drapes well and still holds its shape, making it a common choice for bridal veils. It is 100% nylon, available in white, silk white, light ivory and ivory.

Our Soft tulle (nylon) is a heavier fabric and it's a bit dense not as sheer as the soft English net. A veil made with this type of tulle will not be light enough to catch the breeze. However, this tulle is perfect for minimalist and modern style veils.

Our Silky tulle (polyester blend) is also known as soft English net (made in UK). It's available in white, pale ivory and ivory. It has natural stretch to it (hexagon knit), it's very soft and also very crease resistant. This tulle drapes beautifully.

Our Soft tulle (nylon) is a heavier fabric and it's a bit dense not as sheer as the soft English net. A veil made with this type of tulle will not be light enough to catch the breeze. However, this tulle is perfect for minimalist and modern style veils.

This is not a definite yes or no question. The material of wedding veil depends on the style of the wedding veil itself; not all wedding veils use soft tulle for the material. Therefore you really need to look for the perfect veil carefully to match your dress.

We do not have any wedding veils made of silk tulle. Silk tulle is very beautiful and drapes elegantly; however, it is not a common material to use for wedding veils due to the delicate nature of the fabric. It is made of 100% silk and therefore has the same feel as that of hosiery.

Veil colours

Ivory comes in different shades. Your ivory wedding dress may  be other designer's silk white, candle white, diamond white, light ivory or white.

If you look at the ivory wedding dresses in any bridal shop, you will be able to notice the differences in the colour tones and shades. If you are unsure about the veil colour to go with your dress, we would suggest that you order our tulle swatches but keep in mind that delivery may take up to 2-3 weeks to reach you if you are not in Australia; however Express Post delivery is available upon request.

Veil length

Our elbow veil measures at 27 inches (70 cm). This is a short length veil.

Our elbow veil measures at 32" inches (80 cm). This is a short length veil.

Our elbow veil measures at 41" inches (104 cm). This veil is a commonly worn style of veil. A fingertip length veil looks beautiful on most gowns with different  shapes/silhouettes.

Our waltz veil measures at 60 inches (154 cm). This is a mid length veil which is neither too short nor too long. It extends just under your knees, but it does not touch the floor. Therefore, it makes it easier to move around with the wedding dress.

Our chapel length veil measures at 90 inches (228 cm); it is also known as sweep veil or full veil. This veil matches perfectly for a more formal setting and elaborate gown.

Our cathedral veil measures at 120 inches (308 cm). A cathedral-length veil is the longest and therefore most formal; it extends beyond the train of the bride's gown.

We do accept orders for custom length/width for the wedding veils and colours for the garters. We love every item on our shop; every piece is uniquely designed and made from quality materials, therefore we do not accept custom orders that require changes to the entire style or embellishment of our items.

However, please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

Wearing a veil

How the wedding veil is worn on the big day can be decided once you know the hairstyle you will be wearing; whether it's an updo with high bun or low bun, half up half down, waves or straight.

AT TOP OF THE HEAD

Veil is placed at the crown or higher up, this will create a fuller look (volume) of the veil.

OVER THE HAIR BUN

The most common veil position when wearing an updo or a hair bun, is for the veil to sit nicely and securely on top of the hair bun.

BELOW A TOP KNOT

If you think of wearing a high bun (top knot), the best position for your veil is right below the top knot.

UNDER THE HAIR BUN

If you're going to have a middle bun and you don't want the veil to cover it, you can wear your veil under the bun.

WEARING A MANTILLA

Thinking of wearing a mantilla veil? You can place the veil at the top of the head (as shown in the picture), on the crown or the lower back of the head. We can also customise it as a drop veil (like Princess Kate's) if you'd like to wear the veil over your face (blusher veil).

WEARING A JULIET CAP VEIL

When wearing a Juliet cap veil, the cap is normally positioned at the top of the head but it's also possible to place it closer to the forehead or even at the crown depending on the shape and style of the cap.

It is easiest to secure the veil comb if you have a firm bun, a messy updo, or thick hair.

However, if you have short hair (i.e pixie hairstyle) or thin hair, you can make use of the elastic bands. Create tiny ponytails on your hair and secure them with the elastic bands. Once you have created a row of these tiny ponytails, you can then nestle the veil comb into them.

You can surely wear a veil with short hair.

To secure the veil tightly on your hair, you can make use of the elastic bands. Create tiny ponytails on your hair and secure them with the elastic bands. Once you have created a row of these tiny ponytails, you can then nestle the veil comb into them.

Veil comb

We use different sizes of metal wire combs; 3.25" (8.5 cm) for most veils and 2" (5 cm) for Juliet cap veils.

We use metal wire combs because they hold fine hair securely and will not break (unlike plastic ones). Bobby pins can be used to secure the comb more firmly.

Caution: do not wet the comb as it can rust easily and stain your veil.

We use wired metal combs for all of our veils, and they are in silver metal colour. They will not show at all since they will be perfectly hidden inside your hair.

We use metal veil comb for all of our wedding veils as metal comb is more sturdy and won't break easily.

Caring for your veil

Do not iron your veil. The tulle will burn easily as it is made of 100% nylon. Ironing the veil may cause irreparable damage.Wrinkles can be removed carefully with steam from an iron or steamer; however you should avoid moisture coming into contact with the metal comb as it may rust and stain the tulle. The best and safest way to unwrinkle your veil is to hang it up right away so that it hangs freely without touching the floor. Once the wrinkles are removed, it is best to hang your veil up on a hanger until your wedding day. You may also want to keep it in a plastic dry cleaning bag to help keep it clean and wrinkle free.
