Lace Wedding Veils
Ivory Veil
Soft, romantic and beautifully suited to warmer-toned wedding gowns, an ivory veil is a timeless choice for brides looking for a veil with a gentle creamy undertone.
At Madame Tulle, our two standard veil colours are Soft White and Ivory. Soft White is our lighter shade, while Ivory has a warmer, creamier tone. For gowns with a deeper cream or champagne colour, Cream (Champagne) tulle is also available on request for selected styles.
Our Ivory wedding veils are available across an extensive collection of designs, from barely-there plain tulle and delicate lace to pearls, floral details, satin edging and personalised embroidery. With lengths from fingertip to sweeping cathedral, regal and royal veils, there are many ways to make Ivory part of your bridal look.
What Makes Ivory Different?
At Madame Tulle, Ivory is the warmer of our two standard veil colours. It has a creamy undertone compared with our lighter Soft White, making it a beautiful choice for wedding gowns with warmer ivory or creamy tones.
Because bridal tulle is sheer, its colour can appear quite different once it is layered over a wedding dress. Rather than looking at the veil colour in isolation, we recommend considering how the tulle works with the overall colour and undertone of your gown.
Bridal designers also use colour names differently. A gown described as Ivory by one designer may be noticeably warmer or lighter than another gown carrying exactly the same colour name. This is why we recommend choosing your veil based on the actual colour of your dress rather than relying on the label alone.
Does Your Dress Call for an Ivory Veil?
An Ivory veil may be a beautiful choice if your wedding gown has a distinctly warm or creamy undertone.
When comparing your dress with a veil, look at your gown in natural daylight wherever possible. You may prefer Ivory if:
- Your gown has a warm, creamy ivory tone.
- Your dress looks noticeably warmer when placed beside an off-white fabric.
- You would like your veil to continue the warmer tones of your gown.
- A Soft White veil appears too pale against your dress.
However, the name written on your gown's label isn't always the best indication. Dresses described as Ivory, Light Ivory, Natural, Cream, Champagne or similar bridal shades can vary considerably between designers.
If you're unsure, our Tulle Swatch Set allows you to compare Madame Tulle Soft White and Ivory directly against your gown before choosing your veil.
Our Ivory Veil Styles
Almost every Madame Tulle veil design is available in Ivory, giving you the freedom to choose your veil for its shape, length and detailing first, then select the colour that best complements your gown.
From simple tulle to romantic lace, pearls, florals and personalised designs, Ivory brings a soft, warm finish to many different bridal looks.
Ivory Cathedral Veil
An ivory cathedral veil creates a beautiful sweep behind the gown, combining the romance of cathedral length with the warmth of Ivory tulle.
Our standard cathedral length measures approximately 120 inches (305 cm), extending beyond the train of the gown and creating beautiful movement as you walk down the aisle.
A plain Ivory veil cathedral length veil can bring softness to an intricately detailed gown, while lace, pearls, floral embellishments or personalised embroidery can become a feature against a simpler silhouette.
For fuller skirts and wider trains, an extra-wide veil may also provide a more generous frame around the gown.
Ivory Lace Veil
An ivory lace veil brings together the warmth of Ivory tulle with the romantic detail of lace.
Our lace wedding veils include delicate lace-edged designs, floral patterns and more detailed appliqué styles in a range of lengths and silhouettes.
When pairing an Ivory lace veil with a lace gown, the lace doesn't need to match your dress exactly. Consider how the scale, pattern and placement of the lace work alongside the details of your gown. A complementary lace can create a beautifully considered bridal look without appearing overly matched.
Plain Ivory Veil
For brides drawn to simplicity, a plain Ivory veil allows the silhouette and detailing of the gown to remain beautifully visible beneath the tulle.
Choose a barely-there style for a light, understated effect, a softly draped tulle for gentle movement, or a gathered veil if you prefer more volume around the comb.
A simple Ivory wedding veil can be particularly beautiful with an intricately detailed gown, but it works just as naturally with clean, minimal bridal silhouettes.
Pearl, Beaded and Embellished Ivory Veils
For a little more detail, Ivory tulle can be paired beautifully with pearls, beading, floral embellishments and decorative edging.
Scattered pearls create subtle texture across the veil, while pearl or beaded edging gently defines its silhouette. Floral details can bring softness and dimension, particularly against a simple gown where the veil becomes a more noticeable part of the bridal look.
The right amount of embellishment depends on your gown and your personal style. Your veil doesn't need to match every detail of your dress; instead, look for elements that complement one another and bring the entire bridal look together.
Personalised Ivory Veils
An Ivory veil can also be personalised with meaningful embroidery, transforming a beautiful bridal accessory into something uniquely yours.
Depending on the design, personalisation can include names, initials, a wedding date, meaningful words or phrases, and selected simple symbols. Embroidery is usually positioned towards the lower part or train of the veil so the detail can be beautifully seen when the veil is arranged behind the gown.

How to Compare Your Veil Colour to Your Dress
Choosing between Soft White and Ivory becomes much easier when you can compare the colours directly with your gown:
- Use natural light. Indoor lighting can change the appearance of both your dress and veil. Where possible, compare your gown and veil swatches near a window in natural daylight.
- Look at the undertone of your gown. Rather than relying only on the colour name on the label, consider whether your dress appears pale and neutral or has a warmer, creamier tone.
- Don't rely on the colour name on the label. Ivory at one designer is not necessarily the same as Ivory at another. Assess the appearance of the gown itself (its warmth, its brightness, its overall tone) and match to that.
- Remember that tulle is sheer. Veil colour can appear stronger when the tulle is folded or layered. Once a single layer falls over your gown, the colour of the dress will show through, creating a much softer effect.
- Compare actual swatches when you're unsure. Our Tulle Swatch Set includes both Soft White and Ivory, allowing you to place the actual veil tulle against your gown before ordering.
Not Sure Which Shade Is Right for You?
If you're deciding between Soft White and Ivory, don't worry about matching the colour name on your gown label perfectly. Bridal designers use different names and tones, so seeing the colours together is much more helpful.
Our Soft White is an off-white or pale ivory shade, while Ivory has a warmer, creamier appearance.
For the most accurate comparison, we recommend ordering our Tulle Swatch Set and viewing both shades against your wedding dress in natural daylight.
If your gown has a deeper cream or champagne tone, Cream (Champagne) tulle is also available on request for selected styles.
If you're still unsure, you're always welcome to contact us. Send us a photograph of your gown in natural light together with the designer's colour description, and we'll be happy to help you choose.
Frequently Asked Questions
At Madame Tulle, Soft White is our lighter shade an off-white or pale ivory, while Ivory has a slightly warmer, creamier tone. The difference can appear more noticeable when the tulle is folded or layered. Because veil tulle is sheer, both colours become softer when worn over a wedding gown.
If you're unsure which colour will complement your dress, comparing our Soft White and Ivory swatches directly against the gown is the best way to choose.
It may, but we don't recommend choosing your veil based on the colour name alone. There is no universal bridal shade called Ivory, and different wedding dress designers may use the same name for noticeably different colours. Look at the actual undertone of your gown and compare it with the veil tulle wherever possible.
Our Tulle Swatch Set allows you to compare Madame Tulle Soft White and Ivory directly against your dress before ordering.
Depending on the shade of your dress, our Ivory may complement a cream or champagne-toned gown beautifully. However, bridal colours vary considerably between designers, so we recommend comparing the veil tulle directly with your gown whenever possible.
For gowns with a deeper cream or champagne tone, Cream (Champagne) tulle is also available on request for selected styles. Please contact us before ordering and we'll be happy to advise which colour may work best.
Not necessarily. Because tulle is sheer and lace introduces its own texture, a veil doesn't always need to be an exact colour match to look beautiful with your gown.
The overall effect is more important than the colour name. Consider the warmth of your dress, its detailing and how the veil appears when layered over the gown.
Yes. Most Madame Tulle veil designs are available in Ivory, including cathedral-length styles.
Our standard Cathedral length is approximately 120 inches (305 cm), with longer Regal and Royal lengths also available across selected designs. Custom lengths and extra-wide options may also be available depending on the veil.
Custom lengths are available for many Madame Tulle designs, and extra-wide options are available for selected styles.
If your gown has a particularly full skirt or wide train, an extra-wide veil may frame the silhouette more completely. Please contact us before ordering if you need a custom size so we can advise what is possible for your chosen veil.
Our Tulle Swatch Set includes our Soft White and Ivory veil tulle, allowing you to compare both shades directly against your wedding dress at home.
For the most accurate comparison, place the swatches against your gown in natural daylight rather than relying on photographs or your dress's colour name.
