Choosing your wedding veil is one of the most exciting moments in your bridal journey. Whether you've already fallen in love with a particular style or you're only just beginning to explore your options, we're here to guide you every step of the way.
At Madame Tulle, every appointment is a relaxed, personalised consultation where we'll help you find the veil from our signature collections that best complements your gown and reflects your bridal style. Many of our designs can also be customised in length, colour and selected design details where available.
To help you make the most of your appointment, here are a few things we'd love you to know before you visit us.
Before Your Appointment
Browse Our Collections
Before your appointment, we recommend spending a little time exploring our website.
Our veils are all handmade to order, and each collection has its own unique character. Browsing our collections beforehand will give you a better understanding of our designs, price range and production times.
If possible, save three to five veils that catch your eye. Don't worry if they're completely different styles. Some brides save a lace mantilla veil, a pearl veil and a plain cathedral veil. That's perfectly normal and gives us a wonderful starting point during your consultation.
If your wedding gown is still being made or is currently with your bridal boutique or seamstress for alterations, don't worry, this is very common.
Instead, we recommend bringing:
* Photos of your gown from your fitting (front, back and side views if possible)
* The designer's product images
* A fabric swatch, if your bridal boutique has provided one
* Details such as your gown's colour, silhouette and train length
These will help us recommend the styles that will best complement your dress.
Bring Inspiration
Wear a Light-Coloured Top If You Don't Have Your Dress
If your wedding gown is still being made or is with your bridal boutique or seamstress, consider wearing a white, soft white or ivory top or dress to your appointment.
It doesn't need to be bridal, just something in a light colour.
This makes it much easier to visualise your overall bridal look when trying on different veils. While we'll be focusing on the veil itself, a light-coloured outfit creates a much more realistic impression than darker clothing.
Of course, if you're coming straight from work or have other commitments beforehand, don't worry. It's simply a helpful tip that many brides find makes the experience even more enjoyable.
Know Your Dress Colour
One of the most common reasons brides book a second appointment is uncertainty about their gown's colour.
Many gowns are described as *ivory*, but ivory can range from a very pale shade that's close to soft white through to a richer, creamier ivory.
If possible, ask your bridal boutique about your gown's colour before your appointment. If you're still unsure, don't worry, we'll help guide you during your consultation. In some cases, we may recommend confirming the colour before placing your order.
Who Should You Bring?
Sharing your veil appointment with your mum, sister or closest friends can make the experience even more memorable.
We generally recommend bringing one to three guests whose opinions you genuinely value.
While it's lovely to hear different perspectives, remember that everyone has their own personal style. During appointments it's quite common to hear comments like:
*"Try this one on!"*

*"Just try it for fun!"*
Exploring different styles can be a great way to discover something unexpected, but don't lose sight of the vision you had for yourself.

We'll begin by chatting about your wedding gown, your venue, your hairstyle (if you've decided) and the overall bridal look you'd like to create.
From there, we'll introduce you to a curated selection of veils from our signature collections that best suit your gown and style.
We'll compare different lengths, silhouettes and design details together while explaining why certain styles complement particular gowns.
Some brides find their veil within minutes because they've already fallen in love with a particular design. Others enjoy exploring a few more options before finding the one that feels just right.
There is no right or wrong way to choose.

After helping brides choose their wedding veils for many years, here are a few things we've learnt.
A Simple Dress Doesn't Mean You Need a Simple Veil
One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is:
*"My dress is plain, so I should choose a plain veil."*
In reality, a minimalist gown gives you incredible freedom.
A simple dress can look beautiful with a plain veil, but it can also become the perfect canvas for delicate lace, scattered pearls, floral details or embroidery.
Rather than limiting your options, a clean, understated gown often allows the veil to become a beautiful feature of your bridal look.
Your Veil Doesn't Need to Be the Same Length as Your Dress
Many brides assume their veil should finish exactly where their dress train ends.
